My natal moon is in Scorpio. As someone who lives with this aspect, I’m telling you- it is that deep. The moon is in it’s fall in Scorpio. This means that it struggles but also can have deep healing if it is present with the waves of emotion and does’t try to fight it.

I’m looking at this full moon chart for Friday, May 1st, and honestly, I was worried. Probably because it will hit my birth chart in a really specific way and I will be traveling for my first international retreat as it is peaking. The moon will be square to Pluto, the planet of deep transformation. This will ask us to sit with what needs to change and have the courage to do just that. Also, the sun will be sextile to the north node, a positive aspect that says, when we let go, it will take us to where we need to go.

Once I got over the fear, I had a realization. A few years ago I was in a water park with my husband’s family. One of our nephews asked me to go on the biggest water slide with him- he was nervous. As someone who loves a good amusement park ride (and time to spend with the sweet kid!), I was down. We climbed up concrete steps to the top where a tube waited to take us in, water rushing down the back. You were meant to stand in the tube, arms and legs crossed, then the operator would push a button and the bottom would drop out, you would be catapulted down a long, winding water slide.

My nephew was getting nervous and kept letting people go ahead of him. He would step in, change his mind and step out. Try to hype himself up, get in again, and once again, bail. I told him he was safe. I told I would go right after him. We were standing there so long that we saw people come up for a second round. Their wide smiles did not quell his worry. The longer he waited, the scarier it seemed. Finally, he made the plunge and had the widest smile of all when he was caught by the pool at the end of the slide. I went down after him, and while amusement park rides don’t scare me anymore, I remember the fear of taking a plunge and the joy and accomplishment I experienced when I was done.

This is the vibe of this full moon. You are about to try something new. It’s scary. There is a part of you that will be left behind when the ride starts, and a new one will be waiting for you at the pool when you end. Your job is to trust, let go and enjoy the ride. Changes will happen anyway. Do you want to fight and resist them, or go with the flow? The Scariest part is the anticipation of the change, once you let it start, you get to enjoy the ride.

Here is a ritual to get you to a place where you can relax and let go. It includes:

The tarot card that embodies Scorpio is Death. This is a scary card to those not as familiar with tarot, but those that are familiar, know that Death is magic, and here’s why:
