Lunar Eclipse Ritual
Release control to be in the flow
Do you yawn in yoga class?
Or have you ever burst into tears during a sad song? Released an unexpected burb, cough, sneeze? Or, the way less fun ones like throwing up, farting or menstruating? In Ayurveda, these are called vega, or speed, velocity, momentum, or force. Derived from the root vij (to agitate or move quickly). It relates to these bodily functions that come un without warning and are an indication we are changing our physical state.
When you yawn in yoga, your body is shifting from your parasympathetic (activated) nervous system to your sympathetic (pacified) nervous system. When you cough or sneeze, your body is trying to expel something that is causing them harm. When we suppress these bodily functions we create disruptions in our systems.
Have you ever tried to hold a cough in? Your eyes will water and when the cough finally releases, it is usually more powerful than it would have been if you coughed in the first place.
This is the vibe of this lunar eclipse.
Full moons in Virgo are always going to involve our bodies (Virgo rules over our digestion system) and will be about letting go. Virgo shows us where we are trying to control things and Pisces (where the sun is), wants us to lean into the unknown.
Where are you trying to micromanage your life these days?
How can you loosen your grip and trust the process?
Eclipses move fast and pull things in and sweep other things away. Your job is not to try and figure it all out now, but to notice and practice little bits of surrender.
We don’t do spell work on eclipses, but we can do practices to return to our bodies, so I’m sharing a few practices and reflection tools with you. It will include:
10 min yoga practice
Tarot spread
Guided Meditation
Journaling prompts
